Ok, here's an idea for an "alternate" version of the Breakout Stars story (And as I said before, I'm NOT getting rid of the original story)....
The story is basically the same with the protagonist Artie ending up in the universe of his cartoon show. Only in this version, the show is about Captain Dumaas in his many adventures with Madelyn and Rip-TIle trying to catch him and bring him to Overloard Ominous, only to fail in a comical manner. Surprisingly, the audience who watch the show is so tired of Dumaas winning accidentally at the expense of Madelyn and Rip-Tile to the point of rooting for the two henchmen (Due to their "Never give up" attitudes and making people laugh and sympathise) in spite of the Dumaas character being overhyped by the studio.
Once Artie ends up in the other universe, he ends up captured by Madelyn and Rip-Tile and his magic pencil is taken by Ominous' troops until circumstances lead to the three having to work together. After encountering some obsticles and being forced to save people in their own way by Artie's insistence and assistance, the young cartoonist begins to see promise in the two, not just for their comic act and ability to overcome obsticles despite constantly losing to the show's appointed "Hero." Meanwhile, Dumaas begins to notice that the people are taking a liking to the two henchmen and begins to suspect them and won't have them stealing his thunder, and goes off to sabotage their efforts only to fail the same way he caused Madelyn and Rip-tile to do for years. During the group's journey, Madelyn begins to secretly develop feelings for Artie since he's the first being who isn't afraid of her and his partner Rip-tile and is able to understand and befriend them. Madelyn couldn't let her emotions get in the way of her job and she and Rip-tile had to take their "prisoner" to Ominous so that they can regain their master's respect. So Madelyn lies through her teeth and tells Artie that they promise to get Artie's Pencil back in order to get him home when they get to Ominous' base.
Ominous discovers how the magic pencil works and plans to use it to take over Artie's dimension. Once the three make it to Ominous' fortress, Madelyn and Rip-til break their promise to Artie and hand him over to their evil overlord. But instead of congatulating his henchmen, Ominous fires them since he now has the power of Artie's pencil to aid him which renders the henchmen redundant. The three are locked up in Ominous' dungeon, and Artie is still mad at Madelyn and Rip-tile for breaking their promise. They manage to escape, and Artie alone goes to confront Ominous in an attempt to get his pencil back. Just when things didn't look good for Artie, Madelyn and Rip-tile heroically return with reinforcements. Then after a climatic battle, Artie willingly shares the spotlight with the two former henchmen now heroes. It was then that Madelyn acts emotionally and displays her affection for Artie, with Artie retiring the favour before a heartfelt goodbye as he uses the pencil to transport back home. Dumaas eventully catches up and apprehends the two new heroes cause distain from everyone, including his own organisation. After a angry breakdown by Dumaas, Madelyn and Rip-Tile knock him out for all the years of pain and slapstick.
After returning, Artie pitches his new idea to the studio, leading to a new show about Madelyn and Riptile as the Galexy's anti heroes. And in the meantime, Artie still joins the hilarious duo in their adventures while thwarting their old employer Ominous and other new villains as well as further embarrassing a discraced Dumaas.
So anyway, That's my alternate idea for the story. Tell me what you make of it? I'll be more than happy to continue with the original story if this isn't to anyone's liking. But I feel that this could be a good villain to hero story since the movie, Megamind.
